SWIMMERS RECOGNIZED AMONG NATIONAL TOP 10 AND TOP 3 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SWI
(Las Vegas, NV – April 25, 2014) Las Vegas’ Sandpipers of Nevada swim club announced today that 12 of its swimmers will be honored for high achievement at the Southern California Swimming Awards Banquet on May 18, 2014 in Garden Grove, CA. The banquet honors athletes that finished the 2012-2013 season ranked within the top 10 in the nation for ages 11 and over or within the top 3 in Southern California Swimming for swimmers age 10 and under.
“It is amazing to see the progress of the team year after year,” says head coach, Ron Aitken. “I’m so proud of these kids, the coaches, and the team. Everyone who is part of this organization works hard to make sure our kids succeed, and it is achievements like this that keep our dreams and goals on pace.”
Among those whom will be honored are Olivia Barker (18), Dylan Becker (12), Erin Emery (16), Michael Finetti (12), Isabella Goldsmith (16), Gavin Gould (11), Brennan Gravley (13), Dylan Gravley (11), Adam Henley (19), Logan Houck (17) Mitchell Perez (12) and Erica Sullivan (13).
2012/2013 - Top 10 in the Nation (11 and over):
• Erica Sullivan - (12) 8th in the 400 M Freestyle, 2nd in the 1500 M Freestyle (her time of 18:03.40 is a Southern California Swimming (SCS) record).
• Erin Emery - 4th in the 500 Y Freestyle, 4th in the 1000 Y Freestyle, 3rd in the 1650 Y Freestyle (age 15). 4th in the 400 M Freestyle, 3rd in the 800 M Freestyle, 2nd in the 1500 M Freestyle (age 16)
• Isabella Goldsmith - 7th in the 200 Y Breaststroke (age 15)
• Olivia Barker - 2nd in the 200 Y Butterfly (age 17), 7th in the 200 Y Butterfly,
6th in the 100 M Butterfly, 1st in the 200 M Butterfly, 9th in the 400 M Individual Medley
(age 18)
• Adam Henley - 7th in the 1650 Y Freestyle (age 17)
• Logan Houck - 6th in the 500 Y Freestyle, 8th in the 1000 Y Freestyle, 5th in the 1650 Y Freestyle (age 15), 6th in the 400 M Freestyle, 2nd in the 800 M Freestyle, 8th in the 1500 M Freestyle (age 16).
• Brennan Gravley - 6th in the 1000 Y Freestyle (age 11), 4th in the 800 M Freestyle with a SCS record time of 9:11.01, 2nd in the 1500 M Freestyle with a SCS record time of 17:31.06 (age 12)
2012/2013 - Top 3 in Southern California Swimming (10 and under)
• Relay team: Mitchell Perez, Dylan Becker, Gavin Gould and Dylan Gravley - 2nd in the 200 Y Freestyle Relay
• Relay team: Dylan Becker, Dylan Gravley, Mitchell Perez and Michael Finetti - 3rd in the 200 Y Medley Relay
• Dylan Gravley - 2nd in the 100 M Breaststroke, 2nd in the 50 M Butterfly, 3rd in the 100 M Butterfly, 2nd in the 200 M Individual Medley (age 10)
• Mitchell Perez - 3rd in the 50 Y Backstroke (age 10)
